17 Nights / 18 Days Dur Hot Spring Trek

This trek is particularly famous for its hot springs. During this trek, you will see spectacular mountain scenery, remote and dramatic monasteries and pristine Himalayan culture. Walking across forests of cyprus, juniper, spruce, hemlock and maple, the route also offers opportunity to view interesting fauna such as Musk deer, Blue sheep and Himalayan black bear.Last but not the least, a dip in the Dur Hot Spring will surely br rewarding. The best season for this trek is March to April and September to early November.
The Hot spring trek takes you along the pass, and mountains, this trek does not demand much energy as it is a gradual walk of about 6 hours a day. You will be walking through the forest, with hemlock, cypress and maples. You can also relax and go out for fishing trout in Chamkar river on the way.


Day 1:
Meet & greet upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International (TIA) and transfer to your Dhulikhel Hotel. After check in the Hotel Relaxing Overnight at Hotel .

Day 2:
Breakfast at Hotel Free time till departure Transfer to the International Airport to connect the flight for Paro Our representative above will accompany you throughout the trip, you will drive through fascinating valley of Paro and Overnight in hotel.

Day 3:
Full day sightseeing in the Paro Valley After breakfast drive to the Drugyel Dzong or the Fortress of Victory from where the Bhutanese repelled many Tibetan invasions. The Dzong though in ruins holds great historical importance to the Bhutanese. From there, in fine weather, one can view the majestic Mt. Jhumolhari standing at an altitude of 7329m above the sea. Other places of interest include the National Museum, Paro Rinpong Dzong and the local market. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 4:
Paro to Thimphu: Drive to the capital of the country after breakfast. Enroute you will be able to see the Tachogang Monastery. In Thimphu, visit the National memorial Chorten built in the loving memory of the Late King, His Majesty, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Also visit the National Library, Painting School and the Changangkha Lhakhang. In the evening drive to the Sangaygang viewpoint to see the Thimphu valley in the evening sun. Overnight in hotel.

Day 5:
Thimphu to Trongsa. The journey to Trongsa, one of the district head quarters of central Bhutan,begins early in the morning with pack lunch on the way. The drive to Trongsa takes about 7 - 8 hours and you will be passing through beautiful forests as well as high passes from where you can have breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 6:
Trongsa to Bumthang: After Breakfast. drive to Bumthang takes about 2 and half hours. We move early and afternoon, sightseeing in Bumthang. Overnight at Hotel

Day 7:
Bumthang - Gorsum After breakfast drive to the trek starting point. The trek route follows the Chamkhar Chhu, a river known for its abundance of trout. Overnight camp. Altitude: 3,120 m, distance: 18 km, time: about 6 ½ hours.

Day 8:
Gorsum - Lungsum The trail leads through dense forests of spruce, hemlock, cypress, juniper and maple. The trail is a little muddy and ascends gradually till you reach the campsite. Overnight camp. Altitude: 3,160 m, distance 12 km, time: about 5 hours.

Day 9:
Lungsum - Tsochenchen The vegetation from Lungsum to Tsochenchen is similar until you reach near the campsite, which is above the tree line. Over night camp. Altitude: 3,100 m, distance 15 km, time: about 6 ½ hours.

Day 10:
Tsochenchen - Dur Tsachu The trek from Tsochenchen ascends till the Julila Pass, altitude 4,700 m. If the weather permits, the surrounding mountains can be viewed. After the pass, the trek trail descends to the campsite. Musk deer, herds of blue sheep and Himalayan bear may be seen en route. Over night camp. Altitude: 3,400 m, distance: 17 km, time: about 7 hours.

Day 11:
Dur Tsachu (Tsachu is hot spring) After a late breakfast, relax in Dur Tsachu or hike around the area near camp. Overnight camp.

Day 12:
Dur Tsachu - Tsochenchen The trek trail from Dur Tsachu is up hill to Julila Pass. After crossing the pass, the trek trail descends to the campsite. Overnight camp. Altitude: 3,100 m, distance: 17 km, time: about 7 hours.

Day 13:
Tsochenchen - Gorsum It is an early start for a long walking day. The trek trail descends gradually all the way to the campsite. Overnight camp. Altitude: 3,120 m, distance: 27 km, time: about 9 hours.

Day 14:
Gorsum - Bumthang From Gorsum descend to the bridge near Dur village. Then follow the new motor road till you meet your transport. Drive to Hotel. After a lunch at leisure, stay overnight at the Hotel.

Day 15:
Bumthang - Thimphu The drive to Thimphu takes approximately 9-10 hours. Lunch will be served near the Pelela pass. Overnight in hotel.

Day 16:
Thimphu sightseeing After breakfast we visit the Dupthop Lakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan and the National Memorial Chorten built in honor of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. We visit the National Library, stocked with ancient manuscripts, and the Painting School where traditional art is still kept alive through instructions in the art of painting thangkas (sacred Buddhist religious scrolls). After lunch we visit the Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan). The Tashichho Dzong is open to visitors only in winter when the Je Khenpo and the Monk Body move to Punakha, the ancient winter capital of Bhutan. We then drive to Lungtenzampa to observe traditional gold and silver smiths at work followed by shopping in the city. Overnight at Hotel

Day 17:
Thimphu - Paro Breakfast at Hotel We leave early to catch your onward flight from Paro airport at Transfer to the Airport to connect the flight for Nepal Arrival at Kathmandu check in to the Hotel Overnight at Hotel.

Day 18:
Breakfast at Hotel Free till Departure then Transfer to the Airport to connect the flight for onward journey.
